1944
Establishment of the Polish Horticultural Cooperatives Economic Centre (Centrala Gospodarcza Spółdzielni Ogrodniczych Rzeczpospolitej Polskiej), transformed in 1949 into the Horticultural Cooperatives Centre (Centrala Spółdzielni Ogrodniczych, CSO)
1958
Establishment of the “HORTEX” Foreign Trade Enterprise (Przedsiębiorstwo Handlu Zagranicznego „HORTEX”), whose name is derived from two words: hortus (garden) and export.
1965
The first tunnel freezer for production of frozen fruit and vegetables begins to operate in a new Hortex plant, which is a breakthrough moment in our company’s history.
1970s
In the 1970s Hortex is one of the main suppliers of agri-food products in Central Eastern Europe.
1980s
In the mid-1980s Hortex becomes the world leader in juice concentrate production, particularly apple juice concentrate.
1989
Hortex launches its first production line for aseptic filling of juice cartons.
1997
The enterprise begins to operate under the name of Hortex Holding Spółka Akcyjna.
2003
Hortex plants receive Integrated Management System certificates.
2005
The production and sales of Hortex frozen foods is delegated to Polski Ogród, fully owned by Hortex.
2006
The Argan Capital investment fund buys the company.
2008
Establishment of the Ortika Frozen Foods company, responsible for all sales of Hortex frozen foods in Russia.
2011
Purchase of the “Jest Idea” Russian brand of frozen foods.
2015
Purchase of companies from the Ren Group — Hortex enters new area of business, that is frozen foods distribution.
